My Blogging Hiatus

To say I have been experiencing a writer's block in recent days and weeks would be an understatement. Every time that I have sat down to post on my blog in recent weeks, God has had other plans for me. I literally have had my fingers on the keyboard, but nothing came!

Prior to the last time that I posted on my blog, God had begun continued convicting me about the amount of time that I had been spending on blogging, emailing, FaceBook, television, etc. Even as I sat down to comment on all of your precious blogs, the words would not come. So, that being said, I have taken some much needed time off from blogging to listen to what God had to say to me.

It turns out that God has been trying to teach me more about listening to His voice. Being able to discern His voice amid all the "noise" that this world has. This seems to be a recurring theme that God has had with me, because apparently I am a very slow learner.

I wanted to share just a little of what the Lord has been doing in my life in my blogging absence:

  • He has reminded me that I am to come apart from all the noise and confusion of this world and spend time with Him.

  • He has reminded me that I am to come to Him with anticipation - eager and expecting to hear His still small voice.

  • He has reminded me that I need to stretch my spiritual earlobes so that I can hear Him better. He speaks loudly enough and clearly enough for wide open ears to hear!

  • He has reminded me that even when I do not see Him or I do not hear His voice, He is still working. He is ALWAYS working - even when He is silent!

  • He has reminded me that I am to sit quietly and wait for Him to speak.

  • He has reminded me that His ways are higher than my ways and that if I could explain all the "whys", that He wouldn't be God!

  • He has reminded me that what I really believe is reflected in my personal conduct.

  • He has reminded me that his grace empowers me to say "No" to worldly desires and ungodliness.

  • He has reminded me that my prayers need to be more about Him and less about me.

  • He has reminded me that He is much more interested in my holiness than my happiness.

I want each of you that read my blog and comment on it on a regular basis to know how very much I have missed you.  I have met some wonderful, godly women through my almost one year of blogging and you have become an important part of my life.

I also want those of you that have blogs that I read and comment on regularly to know that even in my absence I have continued to follow many of your blogs.

Please pray for me that I would be obedient to what the Lord would have me to do in my life.

"But he who looks into the perfect law of liberty and continues in it, and is not a forgetful hearer but a doer of the work, this one will be blessed in what he does."
James 1: 25

I've been so busy lately that I just simply haven't had much time to blog. I have been keeping up with reading them (sometimes a little delayed) but writing takes the backseat for me. Plus, my busyness makes for boring reading, I'm sure.

Glad to hear that you are hearing a word from God. There is so much to be distracted by these days, but truly, we need to be focused on Him!

Praying that you are obedient to Him. There is such fulfillment in that! Missed you.

Your post is exactly the theme I am currently using in my Sunday School class: "Having Quiet Time with God". There are many ways to fellowship with Him, but I do believe He desires us to find time for solitude -- with Him -- so that we can hear His sweet voice.

Life is crazy-busy for all of us, and I believe Satan is thrilled and hopes that we will be blinded by all the distractions. We must be wise and ask God to teach us balance.

Blogging has been and is an incredible experience for me. "Meeting" all the sweet, godly women that, otherwise, I would have never "known", has been such inspiration.

There have been those who have posted their concerns getting caught up in gaining followers and/or comments. Certainly, this is the wrong motive that we all must guard against.

Sweet, friend, keep on listening and obeying God's voice and prompting! He always brings a wealth of satisfaction in the end.

I pray for all of our obedience to God's voice and plans for us. I struggle daily with my time management. I've honestly spent less time reading other blogs, following those that I have been able to say make me a better person.
My balance is often askew.......but I admit first that writing makes me a better almost every way.
Have a wonderful day........wishing you peace.

I'm with ya sweet one. I've had my own kind of blogging hiatus lately. God has really been calling me to take care of what He has entrusted me with, and can I just say it has really been GREAT!!!

So just know that I check on you often and miss you like crazy!!

Love you friend,

I think we all feel this way sometimes!! I love blogging, but it can be so time consuming. I think it's important not to let it take time away from what means the most in life...time with God and our family!

I completely understand. I know now that the Lord was preparing me during my recent blog fast for what was to come...working full time and just not having the time that I used to spend on the computer. I know that He will bless your obedience.

I love you!

I feel the same conviction! We just finished Esther last week (we doubled the amount of time it took to allow for a video week, then a discussion week) and I really felt an urging from the Lord to continue to set aside the same amount of time I was spending in homework on continuing to study His word or even just sit still before Him.

May He bless you richly for your obedience.

Great post and one for all of us who consider the Lord number one priority but sometimes fail to live up to that claim.

I know I spend too much time on the computer but I have almost completely given up TV. But there is always other distractions....and most are good but others are self-consuming. We have to be aware of how we spend this precious time God has given each of us and use it wisely.

Thanks for your words of encouragement always!

By the way, how is the SHRED going? Do I need to invest?? I have several lbs. I need to shred!!

First I would like to say thank you for your sweet comment on my Blog.
Second, ooohhh I wish we could sit and talk. In short many things came to my mind when I read your post, the most important two 'I think' are< when I read James 1:5 I heard the Lord remind me that "the work", we do is "sometimes' not work in the physical since as it is in the daily walk we take with HIM. My husband spent HOURS, teaching, ministering, going to men's groups, praying with others, and posting 'the word' on the internet. Many were blessed by this. BUT, God stopped him suddenly {thats a LONG story} and God asked him, "Do you want to be the Painter or the Brush?" Also, you are not alone in your hiatuses, break, or complete removal from Blogging, or other "activities" that separate you from God. Peter had to go into the dessert, Moses into the Mountains, and there are others. God wants us to be so completely alone with Him sometimes, it is the only way He can be intimate with us. Some won't let Him get that close. I don't know why? If you do you will only be blessed beyond measure.

Praying for you. This is an area that I have to keep in check, as well.

Love ya!

Blogging is wonderful and I too have met some amazing friends on here. It does take time though and I have been convicted lately to do my quiet time first thing in the morning and then later if I have time I get online.

There are just so many encouraging ladies out there and I've been so blessed. I love the privilege of praying for others etc. I guess a good, healthy balance is key, huh?

I'm glad you're hearing from God and wise enough to stop and listen and realize the importance.

I do love your blog!

Have a good week Emilie!

I have not blogged in about a month, although I have been reading and commenting on blogs as I have time each day. I am not a television person, so blogging takes the place of my TV time. I have met some amazing, Godly women and have enjoyed my new friendships. I have learned so many new things from reading various blogs. I find that I just have to find a happy medium and to be sure to put God first in my life each day. Love & blessings from NC!

I think a lot of bloggers are feeling the same way. Life is busy. Thank you for sharing all God is showing you. It's important to take time away especially when God is telling you to do so.

I find it so exciting when I see people listening & OBEYING to what God is calling them to do.

That always leads to some deep insight into either yourself, others, or more importantly, HIM!

Keep listening for His still small voice!

There is such great truth in all you have learned from Him! My favorite is knowing He is working even when He's silent. When we were struggling with infertility He revealed to me that even though He wants me to be still and know He is God that doesn't mean He is inactive. Oh boy, was that true! I had no idea He had created a sweet baby boy who was on his way to join our family???

From time to time I struggle with finding balance in the midst of "all the noise". Lately I have to make a conscientious effort to NOT sit at the computer or else it consumes too much of my time!!! I've been guilty of sitting down "just to check my email" and the next thing I know D is waking up from his nap and I've been on the computer the entire time!!! YIKES!!!

Thank you Mimi for this wonderful post...I too have been taking more time off from Blogging to spend quality time with my family vs. being distracted with the computer. I have several Bible Studies I need to jump into, and seem to keep putting them off, but perhaps taking more time away from the computer would allow me to hear the Lord's whisper on how He would like to see me use my time. I appreciate your wisdom, and will indeed quiet myself to hear and listen to that call.

With mcuh appreciation for YOU, Denise :-)
P.S. I know you will be taking time away from the computer, but when time allows can we follow you on Facebook? Thanks!
